This is a short entry due to not working on the holiday!
2 July 2019
A large part of today was spent going through MCNW’s website (LINK) as a Marketing + Communications team. In short, the website isn’t up-to-date on the resources available at MCNW and contains some information that’s no longer needed. I spent some time later that day & over the weekend going through the website and making note of some changes to pass along later: there’s a videos tab that hasn’t been updated since 2016, the category “Stories of the Northwest” could use new content, and there are blog posts about individuals that no longer work at MCNW.
We also talked a bit more about how MCNW functions under MC Global. While part of the larger MC organization, MCNW has aims, resources, and an impact that differs from that of MC Global. MCNW employs messaging that’s tailored to our specific audience because of its focus on reducing the financial and systemic inequalities within our region.
Most of our content comes from the programs that MCNW operates:
LIFE (Lifelong Information for Entrepreneurs): a prison reentry program with a focus on reducing recidivism and establishing self sufficiency and economic stability
Matched Savings/IDA (Individual Development Account): provides financial means for starting or fueling a business
AmeriCorps VISTA: support VISTA volunteers in their respective job sites
As I continue my internship, I think it will be beneficial for me to continue to learn more about each program!
ASSIGNMENT: Tabling event & future outreach
Create post using photos from previous tabling outreach event and mention future outreach events.
My process:
Email coworker for dates of upcoming events
Write copy that incorporates World Refugee Day event and includes future event
Edit/polish photos
Send to supervisor for proofing

ASSIGNMENT: Find stats for MC Global article
A member of the Global PR team asked another intern & I to find some supplemental statistics for an article she's writing. I spent a bit of time on it this week & hope to dedicated more time next week as well. I'll try to link the article here when it's published!
