Artist Statement

My aim in creating these posters was to emulate the layered, textural sounds of Grizzly Bear’s newest album, Painted Ruins, while also abstractly incorporating some of the themes of the album. Conceptually, their album is about the chaos that stems from the unpredictability of life. A lyric I drew inspiration from was “it’s chaos but it works” from their song Four Cypresses. By mixing modern elements, such as a sans serif font (Futura), stylistic lines, and geometric shapes, with abstract/organic artwork, my work is representation of the themes found in Painted Ruins.
