In reflecting on this week, I think I’m beginning to feel more comfortable in my role & duties within MCNW. In all honesty, I was overwhelmed at the onset of the internship simply because of the variety of programs I needed to understand (IDA, Community Resilience, loans, education, Women’s Business Center, and others), the different editorial/branding guidelines I needed to adhere to, and other intricacies of the job. Now that I’ve gotten to know my coworkers better, posted some content, and have my own social media channel to monitor - I’m feeling more confident as an intern.
ASSIGNMENT: Fernweh Food Co.
Channel: Instagram (other interns posting on respective platforms)
Context: Recently featured in an article by Portland Monthly, they’re one of our clients.
Process:
Find image on Fernweh Instagram to use for repost (no graphic, only photo)
Draft copy that incorporates POMO article (do not link - not easy to access on this channel)
Proof + post

ASSIGNMENT: Proof Client Letter
One of my coworkers wrote a client letter to be included with other MCNW swag (like the illustrated card mentioned in a previous post for which I wrote copy). I spent some time proofing it & thinking about the language we use to talk about what MCNW does and our audience. The word “community” is heavily overused (not just in this doc - this is an issue throughout our messaging) - one workaround I found was switching it out for “network of entrepreneurs.” Additionally, I made the suggestion to narrow down the amount of statistics/facts used in the letter. Though the majority of this letter isn’t my work I thought I’d still include it as something that I contributed to. I’ll try to add the final version to this post once it’s completed.

ASSIGNMENT: First LinkedIn post (!!!)
Context: As this is the first post in over two months and there are only two posts total on the channel, share something about MCNW’s mission as whole as a way to reintroduce us to our audience - save program-specific content for later posts.
Process:
Utilize article from the MC Global blog shared out earlier in the week
Draft copy that speaks to MCNW’s mission
Research into using hashtags on this platform - appropriate? Necessary? Find out.
Proof + post (schedule for next week - waiting for account login)
